There are several types of leather, and a number of different ways leathers are tanned and treated. We tend to use vegetable tanned leather and source this from various places, although most of the skins we use come from a tannery in Italy called La Perla.

Vegetable tanned (veg tanned) leather is highly regarded as one of the best types of leather for bags and wallets, and we simply love working with it.

The beautiful thing about a veg tanned product is its aging process. As a wallet, for example, gets used, the leather will soften and slowly develop a lovely patina over time. It gets richer in colour and, for the most part, takes on the personality of its bearer. Oils from the skin, sunlight, moisture and where the wallet is carried all play a part in the aging process.

Leather care tips

When you purchase one of our wallets or bags, you can start using it straight away. There is no need to apply a protector or solvent. However, an occasion may arise when you need to clean or dry out your leather item. The following points will help you do this without damaging it.

1.
If your item gets wet or soaked, empty it out and let it dry naturally at room temperature. Please DON'T try to speed up the process with a hairdryer or heater, as this will dry out all the natural oils retained in the leather itself.

2. If your item has dried out and you fear cracking may occur, you can apply a light leather cream. Generally speaking, any cream you can apply to shoes, for example, will be fine to use.

3. If your item becomes dirty, you can easily wipe it clean with a soft damp cloth and leave it to dry. Please DON'T apply cleaning products or chemicals.

4. If you are in doubt about how to care for your item, please do not hesitate to contact us. In most cases, we can help over an email or phone call.

Finally, enjoy using your leather item. We trust it will give you much joy and pleasure for a long time to come.
